Thanksgiving

So, we went down to the Bay Area for Thanksgiving. We stayed for a whole week, which meant more time to see lots of people -- we had dinner with Cynthia and Julie and Georgia, which was lots of fun. Ethan and Georgia played hide and seek together. It went great the first time, with Georgia counting and Ethan hiding. But then when Cynthia suggested to Georgia that Ethan should count next, she started to cry because she wanted to count. And when I told Ethan that Georgia was going to hide next, he started to cry because he wanted to hide. So then we just let them do that way over and over, and everyone was happy.

Ethan also developed a funny version of "This Old Man," which goes like this:

This old man, he played fish
He knick knack on my dish
With a knick knack paddy dog a fish
This old man went fish fish fish

I mean, really, if he was going to knick knack, couldn't he at least do it on his own dish?

In language news, Ethan now sometimes says Daddy instead of Dada, or even "my dad." And he sometimes says Mommy instead of Mama. When we got home and saw Jeff's dad (usually known as Baba), Ethan called him Bobby. And "my Bob." I thought that was pretty funny. And he's developed some pretty sophisticated sentences, too: I heard him say, "I like the puzzles that I got."
