Quick update

Ethan's current favorite movies include "YogaKids ABC's," which he saw at Will and Anna's, and "Get up and Dance" from Sesame Street. He's really cute singing this little "namaste" song on the yoga video.

We just finished a 4-week taiko class for preschool-aged kids. It's been a brainchild of mine for over a year, and we finally did a session. It was fun, except for me feeling a little tired and nauseous throughout... but fortunately Jeff attended, and was very helpful, and also Teriko, a former PT performing member, brought her daughter Cima and really helped with the class too. We didn't do any formal instruction -- just lots of rhythm and music activities using taiko. With some inspiration from the modern dance classes I took from Grace as a kid. Anyway, the kids all really enjoyed it. I hope we'll find time to do it again.

Two of Ethan's favorite books right now are "Baby on Board," a very amusing British book, and "What's He Doing Now?" Both have pictures of growing wee ones through the 9 months, and Ethan likes to look at those a lot.

Another new nanny

I'm sure you've all been worrying night and day about Ethan's nanny situation. We said good-bye to Jenny and Sarah a few weeks ago, which was a tearful occasion on Ethan's part. He really was sad, as were we. But we hope to see them again sometime this summer. Then, after a slight hiccup when the new nanny we'd lined up didn't show up, we started interviewing yet again. Anyway, Matty (Madeleine) started last week, and she's working out great. She has a degree in elementary education, and is very nice. She pronounces her nickname "Maddy," but after they painted together one day and Matty signed her name to her painting, Ethan started calling her "Mat-ty" with a very hard t, since that's how it looks to him.

Today we also hosted another 2 1/2 year old, Leo, who lives not far away. Matty watched both of them, and they got on very well. Leo is a very mellow, super-cute kid who seems to enjoy the same kinds of things Ethan does. We met Leo through craigslist while looking for a nanny... hooray for craigslist.
