September 10th - we gave Ethan his first real bath,
floating in the water with Jeff. He liked it much better than just
getting a sponge bath. Oh, I love making him all clean and fluffy. Jeff thinks
I'm obsessed, but really, we only bathe him every three days or so. Jeff's
sister Angie gave us two hooded towels, one green and one blue. They say "Bath
turtle" on the hood. He does look like a turtle
when we
wrap him up.

Ethan made his first friend, a paper bag we
got a wedding gift in. It's sitting in the basement where our temporary kitchen
is, and when we lay him down next to it, he stares at it in fascination. He's
also learned how to reach out for it, and he talks to it quite happily. |

Naturally, Ethan still spends lots of time sleeping. I'm still trying to get
the hang of sleeping at the same time.

Mandy visited last weekend for the big
Portland Taiko concert. She stayed with us, and was very happy to meet Ethan
and sing to him.

Jeff took a crazy cute picture of Ethan in his crib with the mobile the folks
picked out.
