Ethan Home ... First Year ... Ethan Goes Swimming

June 6 - We visited Karla at the end of the day. The twins are both crawling now. Ethan learned to throw. Unfortunately, he learned by throwing a rattle at Anna, which was not so great -- she screamed. Karla has a big exercise ball that the babies play with too -- Ethan liked pushing it back and forth with Karla. They have this little mirror, and he looked in it, then slowly leaned down and kissed it. I'm really not sure why he did it, but it was verrry cute.
June 7 - Ethan went swimming! We ran into Suzanne, and she suggested again that we could use the pool, so we took them up on it and headed over when we had a spare hour. We didn't swim for long, but he liked it. He especially liked it when we took him out of the floaty thing and just bounced him up and down in the water.
It was Rose Festival weekend, and we had two shows. After we got done playing at the waterfront, I walked over to Dan's barbershop concert. Ethan was very hot, so I stripped him to his diaper. He likes to put his hands in water more than he likes drinking it now. He got us both wet, but at least we were cooler. Toward the end of the show he was standing with his hands on the balcony railing, just dancing and rocking out in his diaper.
Ethan loves photos -- I showed him the book of photos again, and he was very intent, looking at them and babbling. He makes some new sounds - "bubble ubble ubble." He also loves to sit on his giraffe.

June 13 - He's learned yet another all new language. This one sounds like "oodly oodly oodly." He rocks back and forth on his hands and knees, which makes me think he may crawl soon.
June 16 - Kensuke's visiting, so he and Jeff and Ethan went to Mt. St. Helens. They had fun, but they were gone all day, and I sure missed the baby. So did my boobs. He moved forward! More scooting than crawling, kind of a trench crawl, really. But it works. Now we're doomed. He will no longer stay where we put him.
June 21 - We went to the Laurelhurst neighborhood garage sale for a few hours -- great for baby stuff! We got a wooden high chair, an umbrella stroller, and some toys and clothes. Then quick trip to the nursery, where I bought just a few plants. It was the second night of Art Explosion. Chris and Molly babysat while Jeff and his dad came to the show.
June 22 - Today the baby learned to crawl, and to pull himself up to standing. A busy day.
He can definitely find "kitty cat" in books or on the cloth blocks we got at the garage sale. Also, he learned to stack the blocks today, instead of just knocking them down.
June 28 - We're all visiting the Bay Area for the weekend, to see Erika's dance show. As it happens, my Aunt Pat also is in town, and, coincidentally, Nancy and Fred from Hawaii, and even MORE coincidentally, Michi. So it's been quite the reunion.
