So big

Linna's getting bigger by the hour. I can barely lift her. She's probably over 19 pounds at this point. She's huge. She's perilously close to mobile, too - I put her down on her mat, on her stomach, and before long she was off it, having scooted backwards and twisted all around.

She's been developing her yell to the point where it's quite loud. Last night at dinner, every time she yelled, Ethan would say, "I can't hear you, Linna!" and she'd yell again.

We gave her mashed up sweet potatoes (from a jar), and she gobbled them up. As Jeff said, she approved of them totally. She was so happy.

Goo-goo girl

Linna can sit up very well now, better every day. She's extremely talented. I still spot her, but she can sit up, and follow interesting activities that are happening all around her, without falling over. Then she'll suddenly start listing, and it's all over.

I think those teeth have to be almost here. She's chomping and drooling more than ever. She had one fussy night with more waking up, but still no teeth.

I gave her a small piece of peach, all mashed up. She loved it. She's desperate to eat what we're eating.

Sit!

Suddenly last week she acquired the ability to sit up on her own. We still have to be careful and spot her, as she's prone to listing at unexpected moments. But it's very exciting.

The community health nurse came again last week to do a developmental assessment - a free service if you have a preemie. To be honest, I feel a little guilty taking advantage of it, but I did anyway. She's doing well for her adjusted age. It was funny - the nurse was trying to test her fine motor skills and get her to pick up this orange block, but Linna just wasn't interested in it and kept turning around to look at me instead. Then later the nurse offered a Cheerio, and Linna carefully picked it up and tried to eat it, though she'd never seen one before. That's not so very clever, really, since at this point absolutely anything she picks up goes into her mouth for a taste.

What else is new... I found a huge stash of Ethan's old clothes, 6-9 months. So now we're good for clothes again, though there wasn't much that was pink and frilly. But most of the onesies that Erika tie-dyed are now in play.

She's still working on her first tooth, but more in earnest now. I expect it any day. She's been fussy, drooly, chewy, and hot.

hello?

Now there's REALLY someone in there. Visiting Ann and Zack reminded me of the joys of "Itsy Bitsy Spider," and Linna loves it when I sing it. Today after I sang it to her she started bringing her hands together when I was done - I'm pretty sure she was trying to get me to do it again! She was clearly doing something intentional with her hands during the song, even if it wasn't exactly recognizable.
