A poll - very important!
Halloween is coming up. Ethan has already decided he wants to be a ghost. This will be the first year he's deciding for himself. But Linna, alas, is yet too young to pick her own costume. I have two ideas, both simple, and I need votes. Should she be:
1) A flower fairy
2) A baby witch

No, no, no
Linna always enjoyed moving her head back and forth, which is why the back of her head went bald. Now she does it in a different way - if you ask her a question, she'll make and maintain eye contact while she shakes her head. It's especially funny when she's lying on her tummy and looking up. I can't explain it. It's adorable. Ethan also thinks it's hilarious and delights in asking her silly questions she can answer "no" to.
She continues to adore food. Now she's tried bananas, apples, and carrots. Loves them all. She does the typical baby thing of banging on her tray with both hands when she wants more. She also squinches up her nose, snorts, and says, "Num, num, num!" while she's eating.

Ma-Ma
So she's been babbling syllables for some time now: ba ba, ga ga, ma ma, da da. But Jeff claims that the other day when she woke up, she simply said, "Mama!" and then started to cry. Obviously, she wanted me. I guess it's always this way, unclear if that was an actual first word, or just a coincidence. Time will tell.
She's getting more and more aware. She's a little person now. When we were traveling back from California, she got upset for the first time when I took something away from her - the bottle of water she'd been playing with. Obviously, I couldn't take it on the plane with us (hmm... in the future, will that be not so obvious? Will things shift back so we'll once again be able to carry water on board an airplane?). She got over it, though.
She can also pass things from hand to hand. I just noticed it and I think it's very clever.

You scratch my back...
Last night we took a walk up to Mt. Tabor with the whole family, to the off-leash area for a little dog-running. I had Linna on my back in the Ergo, and she was getting sleepy. Sometimes she laid her head down on my back. Then she woke up a little and started running one hand around and around on my back, little tickly scratches with her little hand. It was nice.
Mika and Ann and Zack just left yesterday. We had a nice visit. Mika's trying to catch up in size to Linna, but she's still 3 pounds short... still, she seems closer in size than she was a few months ago. We had a great time with them, and got some cute Mika-Linna pictures, which I promise to post... someday.
