Milk!

Saturday night we went over to the Bowman's house... they're some friends from Ethan's school, with a 4-year-old girl (Lucy) and a 6-year-old boy (Xander). We had pizza and enjoyed their dress-up box. Linna looked very cute in butterfly wings and a tulle skirt, plus she acquired Lucy's outgrown "princess slippers."

Then we shared PlayStation games - a little Guitar Hero, a little Dance Dance Revolution. While Xander and Ethan were doing a dance, Linna was getting cranky and saying, "Nana! Nana!"

Lucy asked, "What does that mean?" and I told her, "It means she wants milk."

So I started to nurse Linna, and Lucy walked away... she came back a few minutes later dragging an open gallon of milk and a little plastic cup. It was very sweet of her, but we had to explain that wasn't the kind of milk Linna wanted!

A few days ago Linna suddenly started signing "please" after her "more!" I think I said, "More, please?" and noticed that she was doing the "please"... which was funny because I can't even remember the last time we showed her the "please" sign. Anyway, she was pleased with herself and all the attention that got her.

And one more thing - a few days ago she was in the dining room, and walked over to Turtle. Linna gave Turtle a few pats, then lay down with her head on Turtle. Wish I'd had my camera! Apparently the next day she did the same on Teddy.

Talker

Linna's learned lots of new words suddenly - she says 'bu' (book) and 'ba' (ball) clearly. She says 'nana' much more frequently and reliably when she wants to nurse. 'Git it!' is still her number one phrase. She also loves to say 'yeah.'

'Ba!'
'You want the ball?'
'Yeah!'
'Yeah?'
'Yeah!'

She's sooooo cute. She's also very demanding and can be a little crotchety if she doesn't get what she wants. We haven't been enjoying eating in restaurants with her very much - she yells and squirms and climbs on the table. And throws food on the floor, of course, which probably doesn't make us very popular.

The other day when Aileah (one of the new nannies) was here, the three kids were playing outside on a plastic rocker we got from Tonia next door. Ethan sat in the middle, with Linna and Adrian (Aileah's son) on either side. It was cute that they could all play together. Linna and Adrian are really cute together.

Walker

Today Linna suddenly went from occasionally taking a few steps to walking all the way across the room, singing all the while. It happened while Jeff was out picking up Ethan from preschool - literally, in the half hour he was gone.

It was an exciting first day for Aileah, our new nanny. She brings her baby with her, who's almost a year. He also walks a few steps, and I think Linna learned it from him. She's so cute!
