Linna and Dylan

Linna and Dylan were really cute together when we were down there. I expect they'll enjoy playing together even more as they get bigger! Just a quick pic:

Pervert stalker baby

So Linna's a velcro baby right now. She follows me around and hides her face in my legs. If a stranger looks at her, she cries and hides. Sometimes in the evening I'll be walking around in my pajamas, getting ready for bed, and she'll follow me. When she gets to me she yanks on my pajama bottoms and tries to pull them off.

Last Friday (mama day) we went to Grant Park again to play in the water. Linna and Ethan both like it there.

She's so grown up. It's hard to describe. She does funny things on purpose and then looks for the reaction. She tries to imitate everything we say, including tone of voice. She and Adrian had a bad day last week, though, speaking of imitating - they were alone in the living room, and suddenly we heard Adrian crying. When I went in there, I saw that he had toothmarks on his thumb - clearly he'd tried to take what she was playing with, and she BIT him. A few hours later he applied what he'd learned and bit her on the arm. Well, they learn good things from each other too, but that was a rough day.

18 months

We had her 18 month checkup yesterday, though she's already a week past 18 months. She's now 24 pounds, and 31 inches tall. Head circumference still big - 100th percentile, versus 50th-ish for the other measurements. It wasn't the most fun appointment, as she'd refused to nap in the morning due to her reunion with Adrian, the nanny's son. Neither one wanted to sleep when there was playing to be done. So she fell asleep on the way to the appointment and I had to wake her to be measured. She wasn't pleased, and emphatically told the doctor "no" to being tapped and prodded and having her heart listened to.

Incidentally, we had a good trip down to California last week - just Linna and I went, for a class for work. She didn't attend the class with me, though I think the class might have been more interesting if she had, for all concerned - except maybe the instructor. Erika's nanny, Reya, kindly agreed to watch both Linna and Dylan during the week. I THINK it was OK - I'll know for sure when I ask her to do it again. I got to hang out with Erika and Dylan a lot, and with Dad and Martha. Had dinner with Tony, which was fun.

The day after we got home, Ethan wanted to nurse, of course. So they nursed at the same time, and he reached over to hold her hand. Nurslings reunited.

Linna developed a new way of saying "No" while we were gone - it's very clearly enunciated, "Naoh." And she loooooves to say it. She also started saying "Nigh-nigh" at bedtime. I think she says about 50 words now, but they're pretty much all lacking in end consonants still. But we know what she means!
