New things

Lately Linna loves to draw. While she draws, she tells the story of her drawing: "Then the baby flew UP into the sky... and there was a purple baby and then...." It's very charming.

At Dan and Carolyn's at Christmas, we learned that Linna loves, loves, loves it when we join hands and sing before a meal. The expression on her face is just so cute - a big grin, sparkly eyes looking from one face to the next as we sing. "Let's hold hands again!" And does she love to sing! The other day Aileah taught the kids the song "Tomorrow," and after work we were all four belting it out.

She knows a few words by sight!

She really does seem much older since she turned 3. She's even begun sleeping in her own bed (the bottom bunk of Ethan's bed), which we outfitted in a lovely pink-and-brown flowered quilt.

Best reindeer

I'm so behind. It's ridiculous. So I'm starting small: Mika and Linna have had a grand time this New Year's, spending time together every day, including a sleepover (well, with parents too) on New Year's Eve. (Ever since, Linna's been telling me she wants Mika to sleep at her house, as if she can't quite understand why Mika would sleep anywhere else.) Linna's been saying that Mika, along with Adrian, is her "favorite friend," but apparently Mika has a different term for it: Linna is her "best reindeer." Linna likes that phrase now too. Tonight after dinner, they both took off their purple shirts (quite by accident, they often end up matching) and put on heart pajamas. When we left, Linna said, "Good-bye, best reindeer heart girl!"
