| Thanks to the wonderful tomato book Lisa gave me, we decided to have a tomato tasting party. We invited the whole family down, as well as some tomato-loving friends. | |||||||||||
|
Naturally, we prepared many tomato-based dishes, such as a gorgeous tomato and mozzarella salad, bruschetta, and pasta with a tomato sauce. After lunch, which also included other, non-tomato food, we had the official tomato tasting. Much to our surprise and delight, everyone took the tomato-tasting very seriously, choosing three favorite varieties out of the fourteen offered (including the evil store-bought tomatoes -- but we made it clear that anyone listing those as among their favorites would not be invited back). | ||||||||||
| The results: every tomato variety (except the store-bought) received at least one vote, but the clear winner was Cherry Bicolor Rainbow. Orange Oxheart came in second, and Pink Brandywine was third. | |||||||||||
